Some information about what we do all day…
We always start our day with a hello, howdy, or a hi, a smile, a song and some dancing.
Calendar Time: On the Promethean Board, we will explore different topics daily from the days and months to states and presidents which includes all sorts of fun songs from YouTube.
Spelling: On Monday, the students will get a list of words which is on their own level, and all week long, we will do different
activities to learn the words. They will bring the words home on Thursday to practice, and a test will be given on Friday.
Guided Reading: A paraprofessional and I will be working on reading skills with each student one on one. They will be given books on their
own instructional reading level. I will assess them through running records to determine the appropriate leveled
books. They will bring books home on their level to practice for fluency on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Poetry: Each week, we will have a poem of the week and they will work on parts of speech, vocabulary words, reading with
fluency, writing poems of their own, and having fun with reading the poems. At the end of the year, they will have
their own little book of poems.
Centers: Each day, while a paraprofessional and I are reading with students, the rest will be
working on their center for the day. They include: Writing, Computer, Math, iPad, iPad mini, Reading, Art, Science and Social Studies, Promethean Board, Creative Play, and the Listening Center.
Language Arts: Our NEW reading program is McGraw Hill Wonders.
Math: Our math program is called enVisionMath Common Core and is very interactive through the Promethean Board.
Writing Workshop: We will be working on writing sentences as well as a variety of stories. We will make and share several books this year.
MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Interventions AKA LIONS’ CLUB: For 25 minutes each day, the students will be split into small groups working on different reading skills.
Computer: We are excited to have brand new Chrome books to share with the Kindergarten and 2nd grade. We will be working on beginning computer skills, Reflex Math, Study Island, and much more.
Journal: Each day, the students will get to write in a journal about their own experiences and draw pictures with colored pencils.
They will bring them home after the month is over. They are always so much fun to read!
Show and Tell: Don’t forget Show and Tell every Monday and shhhhhh, keep it a secret!
